Trip to Vegas on 5/15/1997 has been very fruitful so far, or ... at least
fun.
5:25am (Eastern) - Wake up, time to go.
6:15am (Eastern) - Do we know what we are doing? (by the way the
guy in front of us was Penn state guy and was a jerk!)
10:00am - Arrived and hit the slot machines... Although we didn't
win anything, we played allot for free (people left credits), and we saw
some people praying to the machines (maybe it was their system).
10:45am - Arrived at Treasure Island. More details here.
Blain, AAron, Mark. Cliff has not yet arrived.
2:00pm - Lost a few quarters to the Treasure Island slot machines,
then decided to relax by the pool and wait for Blain to arrive. Mark is
here coming to the end of his drink, and already raised his "I need bar
service" flag.
Played blackjack, Blain lost $5, plus an additional $5 borrowed from Mark,
AAron betting on 15 gets his 5 or 6 to hit a blackjack gains more than
what he started with... twice! Mark Loses $100 real quick, and has no regrets
(well not many), AAron reacts to Mark loosing it all by betting
it all and losing it all... Time to update the web pages.... No pictures,
you will have to believe that we lost allot...
5:00pm - Geeking time. Lots of stuff (gambling) has happened, but
it's now time to update pages. Update these web pages while Blain plays
with AOL chat...
5:30pm - Drinks run out...
Mark, shown here, is posing for the picture.
6:00pm - We jumped on Blain and take over the keyboard...
Wondering around, we end up at Caesar's Palace, which has a show on the
hour where statues in a fountain come to life. Mark said they would, but
I told him that he was nuts. There were also lasers, and projected storms
and apparitions on the ceiling... This was all in an open area near many
shops, rather than in any organized theater...
We chose to eat at Caesar's Palace. The food was yummy.
Mark, AAron, Blain, Cliff after a fine meal.
At the end of the day...
Experiment results:
AAron's experiment with $20 in quarters leaves him with $50 in quarters
from the slots, which makes up for a Blackjack loss.
Mark's experiment with $20 in quarters leads him to believe that $20
+ slot machines leaves $0.
It is agreed that the tests are inconclusive, and must be repeated
until consistency is observed.
